Dear Dr. Lau:

I wanted to write to express my thanks for your treatment and guidance in
dealing with my ear problem. As you are aware, I was diagnosed with
Tinnitis by an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. I was hopeful that there
would be an effective treatment for me. The specialist basically told me
that there was not treatment and that I would have "to live with it."
Although there is no pain associated with this condition it is extremely
annoying because it causes a constant and annoying ringing in the ear. It
is very distracting and also caused me much anxiety. I was upset and
frustrated with the outcome.

After discussing this situation with my sister, who has successfully
managed her medical problems through acupuncture, I decided to at least
give it a try. I was somewhat skeptical because I was uninformed about
acupuncture. When I called your facility I was happy to hear that you had
treated patients for Tinnitis and that you had achieved good results. I am
pleased to report that after four treatments (over the past two weeks) I
have experienced only one episode of ringing which lasted approximately
five minutes. I appreciate your guidance and treatment. I am feeling
good and I thank you for working with me. I learned a good lesson, which is to search for alternative treatments when you are told that there is no
treatment or hope.

Here is my attempt at a testimonial.
My name is Kent Berger. I have had Multiple Sclerosis since 1975,
and began seeing Dr. Lau for a serious pain condition called Tri-geminal Neuralgia that I have had since 1989, on Dec. 21, 1999. After having enough drugs with no result at one point in time the Neurology Dept. at the VA recommended to cut the nerve. 4 times but the problem persists. Since seeing Dr. Lau I have begun to experience periods of pain relief to the point of "no pain" beginning from 30 minutes of relief to now I have had periods of
time lasting up to 6 hr. and I am getting about 6 hr. of sleep, normal was a couple of hr. twice a day. Chewing was out of the question, drinking ability limited. Much better now. I have had 6 appointments so far and look forward to my future treatments. Dr. Lau has an excellent touch for locating the nerve and getting the right spot. I understand it is no over night fix for the problem that has persisted for 10 yrs but I am confident in Dr. Lau's ability and expertise that we will get it done. I emphasize "we" because he works with me and gives me an explanation of what he is doing and makes me feel as important as the exact spot treatment is required and has genuine concern. I only wish I had done this before I allowed the surgery. I anticipate & look forward to adding my experiences with this in the future and I will continue to have positive results.

I would like to thank you. I had had concerns about he aspirin and other pain medications I have taken over the years. I wonder about the side effects they have on my liver and kidneys.

I have found that with acupuncture I have relief from the pain and soreness in my neck and back. I sleep much better and longer at nights. The effect of acupuncture lasts much longer than medication and the worry about side effects in not a concern.

     I wish to advise that I. participated in the study regarding Acupuncture Treatments For Lower Back Pain and had miraculous suuccess. Prior to acupuncture I was not able to make beds, stand at sinks, walk up steps, etc. When I enrolled in this program my �measurement of pain� was (9) or (10). As of this date it is (.0).
    Regarding �pain medication usage� I was taking 4-6 Advil tablets daily and it was necessary to take 2 Tylenol PM tablets nightly. I now take no medication for pain.
    Herbert Lau administered my treatments and I feel certain that along with his skills in acupuncture, his informative, efficient and compassionate manners played a great part in my healing.

    As a long time sufferer of lower back pains I was glad to read of your unit and the Mercy College student clinics. I therefore enrolled for the course and now some six weeks later I am trouble free.
   Throughout my treatment, I was attend by Dr. Herbert Lau to whom I accredit the fact that I can move, walk with ease and sleep in comfort. Add to this the fact that my outlook on life is much brighter now at the age of 79. I may grow old gracefully now!
    The good Dr. Lau took me through the various stages of treatment always explaining what was going on and even attentive to my comfort.
